Pinterest Announces Workforce Reduction to Prioritize AI Development
Pinterest revealed plans to cut less than 15% of its workforce, a MOVE expected to impact hundreds of employees. The restructuring aims to reallocate resources toward artificial intelligence roles and product development, with $35 million to $45 million in associated costs. Shares fell 8% following the announcement.
The company will reduce its office footprint and accelerate investments in AI, particularly for advertising automation. CEO Bill Ready has positioned Pinterest as a leader in visual search, recently launching an AI-powered shopping assistant for its 600 million users.
